“Katazome (Stencil dyeing)” is a dyeing technique that uses stencils with patterns cut out of them.
This exhibition featured works on the theme of “yokai” (Japanese supernatural creature).
Yokai, which have been depicted in picture scrolls and grass paper since ancient times, are carved and dyed into Stencil dyeing patterns.
We hope you will enjoy the cute, fun, and yet somehow slightly mysterious expressions of “Yokai Stencil dyeing”.
