Katazome（Stencil dyeing） involves drawing a design, carving a stencil, placing the stencil on the fabric, applying glue, and then dyeing the pattern. Yokai(The monsters), goldfish, and flowers depicted on the hand-carved stencils take on colorful, expressive forms on the fabric. In this exhibition, folding screens, stencil frames, paper cuttings, stencil frames used as tools in stencil dyeing, a stencil frame finished as a decorative pieces as well as tapestries and furoshiki (wrapping cloths) will be displayed including past works. Please come and see the yokai(monsters), goldfish, and flowers that will add a mysterious, cool, and slightly cute touch to your summer.
