Mika Nishino Exhibition
“Koukou” means “shining white” , “shining brightly, pure and clean. “I put my heart into each piece to create works that people would think is genuinely beautiful,” said Mika Nishino. In recent years, she has skillfully applied white porcelain pigments to create butterflies and patterns with a threedimensional feel, while using fine brushwork in black, gold, and platinum colors to express flat or threedimensional patterns and designs on a background of plain white. Furthermore, the use of Kutaniyaki’s Japanese pigments at points on the surface sublimates the work into a one-of-a-kind piece of art. In addition to the sensibility and elegance that can be seen at a glance, the warmth and gentleness that can be felt by incorporating natural objects into the motifs are well blended to create her own originality, and the “pure beauty” that she pursues attracts the viewer. This exhibition will feature about 30 pieces, including sake cups, flower vases, decorative plates, and matching plates. We hope you will take this opportunity to visit the exhibition.
