A series attempting to capture the fleeting moment of “Pulse.”
After returning to her hometown in Hokuriku from Kanto after over a decade, she shaped the sensations gained from daily life in the clear air.

The shifting light of dawn and dusk, the temperature of the wind, the difference in humidity when touching the earth―
Each of these sensations seems to resonate within her own body.

A single ray of light piercing through winter’s overcast sky, the wet reflections on fields and roof tiles―
These faint “memories of light” emerged, taking shape through form and color.
By deliberately extracting light―often obscured in nature―with highly pure colors, I aim to visualize the layers of time and air imprinted upon the land.

What emerges in that instant is akin to the latent power within the material or the layers of time.
For me, creating work feels less like forcing it into shape and more like an act of observation, of staying close and recording.

The pulse of earth and wind, felt as an “echo” resonating from nature’s cycles and people’s small gestures―
I attempt to capture that fleeting “pulse” that appears in that moment. (Maki Oi)
